UM, ONE OF THE THINGS WE'VE TRIED TO DO IS, UH, LOAD THOSE TRUCKS. UM, THE BEST WE CAN, WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO, UM, SHARE THE NUMBERS WITH OUR OPERATORS AND INCREASE TWO TO THREE TONS PER LOAD. UM, FOR FOUR LAST YEAR, LAST FISCAL YEAR, WE LANDFILLED 30, 37033.88 TONS. AND THIS IS AN INCREASE OF 3,410 TIMES FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR. SO WE HAVE SEEN A CONTINUING TO INCREASE, UM, OVER TIME, WHICH I THINK IS A SIGN THAT THE ECONOMY HAS IMPROVED. UM, IN 1819, IT WAS 33,632 TIMES OVER FIVE YEARS. WE'VE SEEN A TON OF INCREASE OF 6077.8 TIMES. AND IN 10 YEARS WE'VE SEEN A TON OF INCREASE OF 8,069 TIMES. SO WE, I THINK THAT'S A REALLY GOOD SIGN FOR THE ECONOMY. UM, WE HAVE SEEN SOME INCREASE AS COVID STARTED WITH, UM, HOUSEHOLD TRASH. UM, SO, UM, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE TYPICALLY SEE IN THE SPRING, BUT A LITTLE BIT ADDITIONAL TRASH COMING IN BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE WERE HOME WHEN, WHEN THE NICE WEATHER POP, UM, ANY QUESTIONS AS FAR AS THE TONNAGE OR ANYTHING HAPPENING WITH, UH, THE LANDFILL THERE, IF NOT, I'LL, I'LL MENTION BRIEFLY THE RECYCLE REPORT. UM, 2019, OUR RECYCLE REPORT IS DONE, UM, IN COORDINATION WITH THE REGIONAL COMMISSION, THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY, REGIONAL COMMISSION, THE ONE SHANNON VALLEY. SO THAT'S BEEN A VERY SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM OUT THERE, AND OUR BOARD JUST WANTED TO GET A COUPLE OF SIGNS UP TO LET FOLKS IN THE COMMUNITY KNOW THAT, YOU KNOW, THIS IS A GREAT PROJECT AND IT'S A GOOD PARTNERSHIP, UH, ROYAL LANE, UH, WE'VE ISSUED A REQUEST FOR DEVELOPMENT PROPOSALS FOR THE ROYAL LANE PROPERTY. WE'RE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR WORKFORCE HOUSING PROPOSALS TO GIVE THE COMMUNITY AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTIONS THAT WE FEEL ARE GREATLY NEEDED HERE IN FRONT ROYAL AND WARREN COUNTY. UH, WE'VE HAD A GREAT DEAL OF INTEREST IN THE PROJECT AND SEVERAL DEVELOPERS HAVE COME IN TO PURCHASE THAT'S A PLANS. SO I THINK WE'RE GOING TO GET A VERY, VERY GOOD RESPONSE TO THAT. THERE'S A LOT OF VERY WELL QUALIFIED DEVELOPERS THAT HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST SO FAR. PROSPECT ACTIVITY CONTINUES TO BE VERY BRISK. WE'VE HAD MORE INTERESTED PARTIES IN THE BALL DRIVE BUILDING AND IN THE LAND AT BOTH STEVENS AND HAPPY CREEK. UM, ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2020, THE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED THAT WE WERE AWARDED 1 MILLION, $216,724 AND 4 CENTS IN GRANT AWARD FROM, UH, THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY SAFER PROGRAM. UH, THAT AWARD IS FOR SIX TOTAL POSITIONS AT NO COST MATCHED TO THE COUNTY. SO IT IS A HUNDRED PERCENT FUNDING FOR THE SIX POSITIONS FOR THREE TOTAL YEARS. AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE GRANT PROCESS, THE COUNTY WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR, UH, THOSE POSITIONS AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $405,574 AND 68 CENTS PER YEAR. SO THAT'LL GIVE US AN ROUGHLY A THREE-YEAR TIMEFRAME, UH, TO PLAN FOR THE ABSORPTION OF THAT COST. THESE SIX POSITIONS WILL BE EARMARKED FOR A RIVERMONT FIRE STATION UPON ITS COMPLETION AND OPENING TO INCREASE OUR DAILY STAFFING LEVELS TO 12 UNIFORM FIREFIGHTER POSITIONS, STAFFING, UH, SIX FIRE STATIONS. UH, WITH THAT I'LL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE. I THINK IT WAS A GOOD THING. UM, I APPRECIATE MS. UM, ROSTERS EFFORTS ON THAT. SO IF THE TOWN EXECUTES, UH, AS THEY'VE TOLD US IN ROUND TWO, WHEN IT'S ALL SAID AND DONE, THEY WILL HAVE SPENT ABOUT 51% OF THEIR ALLOCATION ON SMALL BUSINESS. IF WE EXECUTE AS PLANNED, WE WILL HAVE SPENT 50% ON SMALL BUSINESS, VERY CLOSE, UH, PUBLIC SAFETY PAYROLL. THE TOWN PLANS ON SPENDING 42%, WE WOULD BE AT 43% HAZARD PAY FOR THE TOWN WOULD BE 5%. WE HAD THE 1.6 THAT WE DEDICATED TOWARDS PUBLIC SAFETY PAYROLL. AND THEN WE COME TO THE SMALL BUSINESS NON-PROFITS AND UTILITIES. SO AT THE CONCLUSION OF ROUND ONE, WE AWARDED $883,865. THAT AMOUNT HAS GONE UP SLIGHTLY WITH SOME OF THE LAST MINUTE PACKAGES, PACKAGES THAT HAVE COME IN, BUT APPROXIMATELY EIGHT 83 TO THE $9,000 RANGE, YOU SEE OUR REMAINING, UH, BALANCES THERE, UH, THAT YOU ALLOCATED.
